|Client||Union Jack Club|
The Union Jack Club is a private members club for serving and ex-serving members of Her Majesty’s Armed Forces and the Emergency Services.
The Club also has conference and hotel facilities for the general public.
The Club’s occupiers and the building itself make the venue a high security risk. We were appointed on this project to manage the Metropolitan Polices’ involvement with the scheme, and liaise between them and the client. We worked closely with the counter terrorism units to develop a robust security policy and designed a complete security system based on a full review of the site and its use.
The review revealed that the reception area, including lobby and entrance, warranted a complete redesign in order to be sufficiently safe and secure for visiting members. We collaborated with Nick Willson Architects to redesign these areas. The new design not only included enhanced security within the reception, but also an external copper-clad canopy acting as a communication antenna to enable enhanced security communications throughout the building.
