We designed the complete security scheme for Rothschild’s Bank.
The contract included evacuation management, radio communication systems and assessment of the likelihood of, and damage caused by a VBIED being detonated within the immediate vicinity.
We continue to provide strategic security for the bank with the implementation of a Guard Tour Management System and Man Guarding functionality for private functions and events.
To preserve the exceptional quality of the interiors and OMA's architectural vision, we collaborated with the architects to create bespoke security solutions that enhanced the design, or completely concealed the sophisticated security paraphernalia from view.
The building comprises ten floors of office space, an auditorium, Archive and Sky Pavilion which is a spectacular entertaining space. Wren’s previously hidden Church of St Stephen Walbrook can now been seen across an open courtyard due to the cantilevering of the ground floor to sit at level one. Significant security challenges were presented by this courtyard which appears to invite passers-by to enter. We did not take lightly the importance of our role in designing a building that has seven floors dedicated to hosting the world’s wealthiest and most powerful people.
