The 67-acre King’s Cross site is being transformed into an exciting live-work-play area of London with 50 new buildings, 1 900 new homes, 20 new streets, 10 new public parks and squares and 26 acres of open space. The development, which includes homes, shops, offices, galleries, bars, restaurants, schools and even a university, offers a safe and secure managed environment for residents, businesses and visitors.
QCIC was appointed to design the physical and technical security systems of R6, a 14-storey high building consisting of 75 apartments, a mix of one to three-bedroom homes and two adjacent penthouses.
The scope of works was comprehensive, from developed design through to construction and support. Our electronic security design consisted of automated access control, CCTV and Intercom systems. We worked with the AV consultant to integrate the intercom system into the home automation system to ensure that the shared interface would be capable of both communicating with and admitting entrance to visitors via the entry door station.
We provided a design note on the vehicle entry strategy to inform the contractor on the requirements of priority for entry and exit from the residential car park. This design allows access control and intercom systems to form a key interface with the motorised gate and traffic light equipment.
