Located adjacent to the South Dock and Bellmouth Passage, the 211-metre high, 57-storey cylindrical skyscraper is one of three high-end residential buildings planned for the Wood Wharf scheme’s initial Phase 1 construction phase. It is set to become the signature landmark and prominent visual gateway to the Wood Wharf development.
Designed by Herzog & deMeuron and Adamson’s Associates, the residential tower will accommodate a collective mix of apartments, amenity spaces and retail premises. In addition, a second floor ‘cantilevered’ gymnasium disc will sit prominently over the public walkway, seamlessly engaging with the water’s edge, boardwalk and proposed Promenade Park and adjoining Compton Gardens.
QCIC were appointed to design a discreet, high-quality security system for the apartments and communal areas, with an underlying brief of integration with the wider rigorous Canary Wharf security philosophy and approach.
We designed the electronic security systems, coordinating them with other design streams whilst being mindful of the intended look, feel and operation of the communal spaces. In addition, we worked with the architect and the local Police Designing out Crime Officer (DoCO) to meet secured by design requirements and will continue to work with Canary Wharf Contractors during the Build phase of the development to help achieve building requirements such as BREEAM and Code for Sustainable Homes.
