March 2009 - Financial times quotes QCIC in report on Travel Security
QCIC today was quoted int he Finacial times article; Security: Technology helps reduce risks when abroad.
"You do not have to be an arms dealer to feel the need for extra security when travelling on business. Nor do you have to be particularly wealthy. Nationality alone could be enough to make you a target.
The British Foreign Office lists a worrying number of dont go to countries. But with an estimated one in four UK jobs linked to overseas business, for some, travel remains essential no matter what the risks.
So how do executives assess the dangers? Big international businesses will have long-standing risk assessment programmes and security policies for staff. Such companies will supply bodyguards and armoured limousines for top executives and will provide translation and passport services.
For individuals and small companies, finding the right kind of security advice can be a headache. How is the provenance of a security consultancy judged? How do executives know that the airport limo and bodyguard will actually turn up? Who in a company is qualified to make travel risk assessments?"
"One way of dealing with the issue is to hire a reputable travel management company (TMC) that has links with the security sector. Recently, Business Travel Direct joined forces with QCIC, an independent security consultancy, to launch a security briefing service for business travellers. BTD decided on the move after it realised that on any given day it was sending more than 300 business travellers to high risk countries."
